Have you ever felt that spark of inspiration that almost lit your soul on fire? A tiny speck so loud that all you ever want to do now is to just express it – the grandeur of your experience, the nuances of your observation and a brand new overview of life that could change someone’s life; and just share it with the world, but the pseudo grandeur of the art world full of sacrifices, retaliations, and a lifetime devoid of guarantees stands right in front of your face?
I have discovered a method, and designed a course around it that can help you unlearn, realise, surrender and materialise a world full of art, wonders, happiness, success and peace.
Experimented like a lunatic, for two decades I changed mediums quicker than the monsoon skies, made a million stupid decisions, erased and rebuild years worth of energies, but learned a billion lessons, and it continues to this day.
It is an absolute honour to present –
The Artist Dilemma
This course is the juice of these exuberant decades of experiments, mistakes and lessons. I have learned that background doesn’t matter, qualifications don’t matter, who you are, or who you have been doesn’t matter, in essence nothing really matters, but one non-negotiable.
Mindset is everything. In this course, The Artist Dilemma, formulas and techniques are almost redundant. A foundational knowledge of four basic elements is the core of this course and method.
- behaviour
- thought patterns
- emotions – their regulation and materialisation
- the system
On Behaviour
Human behaviour can make the most difference even after a million mindset changes. For example, no matter what you do in your life, law, finance, art, science, if you take care of your body – exercise and diet, mind – meditation and silence, then the success starts to materialise.
Once we observe, and understand our behaviour, we can make tiny changes and orchestrate (manifest) whatever desires we hold as human beings. If I am learning to sing, then just little general changes of daily life can catalyse the process, eg breathe-work, getting aware of your diet, avoiding spaces where you need to scream or raise your voice.
Thought Patterns
All thoughts are essentially ideas. Developing a sense of unbiased allowance of all kinds of thoughts, and learning to recognise them for their essence makes all the difference in life as an artist. A negative thought or a positive one changes from culture to culture. Where I live, cats are ominous but in Japan cats hold a grand spirit.
Emotions and Their Regulation
Every possible emotion exists only for our survival. The formulas coded in our genes and psyche exist only to help us survive, thrive and expand. It is just the rational part that makes them distinct. For example, sadness. Why is there such a notion that sadness and depression and being blue or under the sky, is the worst possible outcome for human existence?
If we feel sad, or angry, it is an absolute clear cut sign that we feel hurt, this pain needs addressal, and I need to accept and learn and grow.
Materialising Energy into Art
Emotions carry unimaginable amounts of energy. Consider what some people have accomplished – Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar, Hans Zimmer, Van Gogh, A R Rahman, the list is endless. And they could do it because something in their medium spoke to them, moved them. This energy is the core of where art resides.
The System
In the last decade, we have seen a general but rapid shift from ‘goals’ to ‘systems’. In his defining work Atomic Habits, James Clear presents a simple yet sublime thought about the importance of having systems rather than goals.
Once we start looking at ourselves objectively, only then we can enjoy our unique subjectivity without guilt, shame or pressure. In fact, it could glorify into an honour.
Building proper habits inclined with our individuality can literally manifest the inner artist in us. The Artist Dilemma is about this transformation.
If this makes sense to you, send me a text and let’s talk about it right now.
Hello, my name is Saby and I am a multi-disciplinary artist, and an intuitive educator.
My debut album eventually turned into a concept album. The exploration of the modern Indian millennial troubled with guilt and burdened by shame was unintentional. It just happened.
My work on the butterflies of Kangra is being compiled into… something, and my book on… something is untitled so far.
All this while I maintain an online journal where I present my art, projects, essays, and stories. Sign up here and I might sometimes write you a letter.
