“na-qabil-e-aazmaaish” Live ep

The village of Gunehar at times feels like a distant, isolated recluse where one arrives only to heal. I think I arrived for the same reason.

I wrote music, spent time with butterflies, and explored a much deeper part of my identity that was nestled in a very false and promiscious promise of an idea. It is uncomfortable – facing your demons, but the way to light is through darkness and darkness alone.

On a damp, rainy winter night, I performed two songs for two friends of mine. As a musician, you take ages perfecting a song in the studio but while performing live, sometimes magic appears out of nowhere. And I think that night, the magic happened.

Two completely naked performances of some of my most personal songs – “Aasaan Dil” and “Bas Tera Naam Loon” – both unplanned, and unrehearsed; they somehow still managed to tie my living experience in Gunehar so beautifully and accurately.

The title of this live performance EP – “na-qabil-e-aazmaaish” follows the humility that the excruciating pain brings. It shows you how little you and your problems are, how much you need to let go of your insecurities, and how you must move on to be an observer.

The compound word translates literally to “unworthy of a trial”.

“Aasaan Dil” is the quiet, poignant rage that keeps growing as the world around you pushes your limits of sensitivity. It ends with either anger, or just a numb state of being – only because of lack of a fundamental human understanding – that it is fairly easy to understand someone.

“Bas Tera Naam Loon” is the longing for the unnamed saviour. It is about obsession and the pain that comes with it.
